Dr Mary Lou Jackson

Dr Mary Lou Jackson is an ophthalmologist and Director of the Vision Rehabilitation Center at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in the Harvard Department of Ophthalmology. She is also the Chair of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Vision Rehabilitation Committee. The AAO Committee has authored the current AAO Guidelines for Vision Rehabilitation for Adults which outlines a Comprehensive Model of Vision Rehabilitation that addresses; reading rehabilitation, activities of daily living, patient safety, continued participation in community despite vision loss and psychological well-being. Her current research interests include Charles Bonnet visual hallucinations, contrast sensitivity and optimal use of macular perimetry in clinical vision rehabilitation. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Toronto, in Ontario, Canada and practiced clinical vision rehabilitation in Victoria, British Columbia since 1990
